Health Care Communications Access videos were produced in ASL for the Commission of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard of Hearing Minnesotans (one in a series of seven videos) that teaches people about their rights for equal access to health care.
One of the most important rights is access to ASL interpreting services. Cuong Nguyen, a deaf man, was in a serious bicycle accident that resulted in a 40-day hospital stay and extensive physical therapy. His powerful story tells about his ongoing battle with the hospital to get regular access to an ASL interpreter who could help him understand his care and treatment plan.
