This blended training program teaches people who are deaf and in recovery from a mental health issue to become a Deaf Certified Peer Support Specialist (DCPSS). Students experience a combination of self-paced e-learning assignments and quizzes and facilitated group virtual training sessions via video conferencing. These facilitated sessions are used to debrief assignments, practice important skills and offer opportunities to collaborate with other students and build a professional network.
This online training course includes over three hours of ASL videos, including video role plays, such as how to support peers at medication appointments, and best practices for working with mental health professionals.
